Telepathy Exists

It's Called Writing

I'm constantly reminded of the shame I felt when I walked out of the speech therapist's office in 6th grade. I had grown up with a speech impediment that slurred my words so often that the most common questions I heard were "Can you say that again?" and "I'm so sorry, one more time?" To this day, I know the frustration of being unable to communicate my thoughts to my loved ones.

Language is how we all communicate with each other, which separates us from every other animal on this planet. The best public speakers know they can sway thousands or millions of people with a speech. Language is about sharing thoughts and ideas with others. When I struggle to speak, it’s in these moments that I wish I was a telepath.

Writing is the closest thing we have to telepathy and is the best medium I've found for communicating. Writing, in its simplest form, is thinking. Writing forces you to get out of your own head and put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard). Writing has a few advantages over speaking that aren’t discussed enough.

Everyone should develop public speaking and debate skills because they are crucial in learning how to think. However, writing gives a place for your thoughts to live. I can't talk with 1,000 people about my ideas, but I can write a piece that 1,000 people can read. Everyone should write, if for nothing else to communicate with their loved ones.
